FAQ

What is VPN?

VPN stands for Virtual Private Network. VPN provides a secure way to access network resources over the Internet or other public or private networks and allows you to connect to a remote network and become a node on that network. VPNs use tunneling, encryption, authentication, and access control over a public network at the same time for security. Although they often use public networks, VPNs inherit the characteristics of a private network, thus the "Virtual" Private Network. VPN can be a better alternative to traditional dial-up connections to provide access to remote users and telecommuters. It can also take the place of the public switched telephone network or dedicated leased lines to connect LANs in different sites. VPNs can also be used to give customers, clients and consultants access to corporate resources.

What are the system requirements?

Our service will work with computers running Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7 and Mac OS X. No additional software is required as we utilize the VPN feature already existing in your operating system. Once you sign up, we provide you with all information required to set up a connection to our servers.

What kind of encryption is used?

We offer two types of VPN: PPTP and L2TP over IPSec. PPTP tunnel uses MPPE 128bit encryption algorythm.
L2TP over IPSec uses 168 bit 3DES encryption protocol on Windows XP/Vista and 125/256 bit AES protocol on Windows 7.
L2TP over IPSec is considered to be more secure and you can achieve better performance using it but we do not offer port forwarding for this type of VPN.

What type of VPN is better for me ?

It depends on how you want to use it. If you use it for web browsing, downloading, making Skype calls, then we suggest using L2TP over IPSec as it is supposed to be more secure and may provide better performance. It has some restrictions though. It is not possible to connect to the same VPN server from two devices at the same time if these devices are located behind the same NAT router.
If you want to use VPN for bittorrent or other services that require you to handle incoming connections on certain port, PPTP is right for you becase we provide you with two forwarded ports in PPTP VPN. Besides PPTP VPN is easier to setup.

Can I use your VPN with private bittorrent trackers ?

Yes, you can.
Most of private trackers require users not only to download but to upload something in return to keep their share ratio on certain level. If you are behind NAT router and you cannot setup port forwarding with your ISP, nobody can connect to you and download anything. Your ratio goes down and you can be banned from the tracker.
When you use our VPN we provide you with port number that you can use in your bittorrent client. All incoming requests to this port get forwarded to your computer through VPN. So other peers can connect to you and download.

Do you limit VPN connection speed ?

The simple answer is "No, we don't".
However we limit speed of outgoing email connection to prevent spam. The speed of outgoing email is limited to 16Kbs. It's absolutely enough to send several emails per minute but not enough to send millions of messages like spammers do. All written above is true if you send email directly from your computer. In case you use any webmail service like GMail, Yahoo, MSN e.t.c. we don't limit VPN speed.

How does it work ?

It adds a new network interface which you are working with as if you are working with direct internet connection. But the IP-address is different and all traffic is encrypted.

Can I use your services if my internet activities related to child pornography ?

NO, YOU CANNOT !!!
We all have our own kids and we'll do our best to help the police to catch you.

Will VPN slow down my system or internet connection?

No, generally you won't notice any slowness.

Can I use your VPN instead of my current ISP connection?

No, you need existing (Cable, DSL, dial up, Satellite, etc) internet connection to be able to use VPN service. In general, VPN is a shield for your existing connection.

Can I increase the speed of my connection using your VPN service?

No, you cannot increase your existing connection speed.

Does it also protect other protocols like ICQ, Mail or FTP ?

Yes.
Once you are connected to our VPN server, all programs use a virtual network interface which protects all programs that access internet on your computer.

Can I connect to my account from more than one computer?

Yes, with our service you can use it from as many different devices as you want. Only one at a time though. When you switch systems you must disconnect first.

Can I unblock Webpages and Skype in my country (e.g. UAE, China, ...)?

Yes, you can.
Our VPN service allows you to visit blocked websites and to use Skype in countries that block it. VPN connection is anonymous and secure and can be used either at your office, school, home or cafe. In China and UAE for example, you can use our VPN to make calls with Skype or to bypass Etisalat and DU proxy server and access censored pages. When you are connected to the internet through your Internet Service Provider (Etisalat, Qtel, DU etc.), all your web traffic goes through their "proxy server". They also have the ability to filter, monitor and store information about all sites that you visit. Using our VPN you can access all websites securely and anonymously without passing through their server.

How does anonymity work ?

Our VPN allows you to use the same internet service provider (ISP) you currently have and at the same time you remain anonymous in all your internet activities by routing your traffic through our servers via secure encrypted tunnel making it impossible even for your ISP to "spy" on you. By using our services, whenever you visit a website, send email, chat, ICQ, AIM, IRC, FTP, make internet phone calls etc., your real IP address is not provided to the other people involved in the transaction. This is a tremendous preventive measure against hacking. Most hacking is based on using your real IP address, which the hacker will not be able to get, without it they have no idea where to hack into. As a result we are in fact acting as a firewall keeping you safe from any abuse. Your internet provider retains a log file that shows the times your IP address was used and where it was connected to. Some internet providers save these logs indefinitely and they may give these files to whoever asks with or without a court order. It means every website you visited and everything you did is no longer private. If you use our VPN all your ISP logs would show is nothing other than an encrypted connection to our server. All internet traffic leaves our servers with same external address. All traffic of many users becomes mingled together and inseparable should someone try to do it. This is the anonymity.

Do you offer test VPN account ?

Yes, we do.
You can setup test PPTP VPN connection using this instruction. Use "free" as login and "test" as password. Please take into consideration that this service is only provided for you to be able to test the possibility of using our service and the speed of it is strictly limited. Session time is limited too and it is only 5 minutes long.
